After booking an extremely successful dragon boat event with Gable Events, BUPA asked Gable Events to organise a treasure hunt for their next team building activity. BUPA were holding their annual conference at Sopwell House Hotel in St Albans and wanted the treasure hunt to take place in and around the hotel and grounds. It was seen as the ideal opportunity for guests to mix and let their hair down with some fun, team building in the fresh air.

To add variety and a special twist, Gable Events suggested incorporating four fun team activities into the hotel-based treasure hunt. Target golf, remote controlled cars, penalty shootout and axe throwing brought a new dimension to the traditional treasure hunt as teams had to make tactical decisions about whether to try for success on the activities in order to win more points or to concentrate solely on answering the treasure hunt clues. Gable Events contacted Sopwell House to determine the best location in the grounds for the additional activities and our event manager carried out a pre-event site visit to prepare the hunt.

Other personal touches provided by Gable Events included fun money with the BUPA CEO pictured on the notes for teams to win on the additional activities, BUPA branded number boards to differentiate the teams and several company related clues.

A Big Success!

BUPA enjoyed a fantastic fun team building afternoon at Sopwell House Hotel and the feedback from all the delegates was extremely positive. BUPA are already talking to Gable Events about next year’s event.

“The treasure hunt went very well and the team activities were the highlight (everyone really enjoyed the soccer shootout and the axe throwing) and they were a good opportunity for delegates to let off some steam after being cooped up in a meeting room all day. The BUPA money was a great touch with the CEO on the front. It was nice to see some familiar faces from the Gable Events team last year; the guys did a superb job.”
